Nonlinear Interaction of Electromagnetic Radiation at the Cell Membrane Level: Response to Stochastic Fields
نویسندگان
چکیده
A general rigorous analytic framework for computing the transmembrane potential shift resulting from the nonlinear voltagecurrent membrane relationship in response to wideband stochastic electromagnetic radiation is outlined, based on Volterra functional series. The special case of an insulated cylindrical cell with HodgkinHuxley membrane in an infinite homogeneous medium is worked out in detail, for the simplest case where the applied electric is normal to the cell axis, and independent from the axial coordinate. Representative computational results for a zero-average stationary band-limited white Gaussian incident field are illustrated and briefly discussed.

Evaluation of the Validity of a Nonlinear J-Shaped Dose-Response Relationship in Cancers Induced by Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields
The radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMFs) produced by widely used mobile phones are classified as possibly carcinogenic to humans by International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Current data on the relationship between exposure to RF-EMFs generated by commercial mobile phones and brain cancer are controversial. Our studies show that this controversy may be caused by several par...
متن کاملThe effect of superposition of 900 MHz and incoherent noise electromagnetic fields on the induction of reactive oxygen species in SP2/0 cell line
Background: Induction of cellular response after exposure to electromagnetic fields is limited to coherent fields. An incoherent noise field is supposed to suppress the bioeffects of regular RF electromagnetic fields. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of GSM mobile phone-induced radiofrequency (RF) on the induction of oxidative stress in SP2/0 cell line. Materials and Meth...
متن کاملAdaptive Response Induced by Pre-Exposure to 915 MHz Radiofrequency: A Possible Role for Antioxidant Enzyme Activity
Background: Over the past few years, the rapid use of high frequency electromagnetic fields like mobile phones has raised global concerns about the negative health effects of its use. Adaptive response is the ability of a cell or tissue to better resist stress damage by prior exposure to a lesser amount of stress. This study aimed to assess whether radiofrequency radiation can induce adaptive r...
متن کاملPlacental histomorphology and morphometry in the pregnant mice treated with cell phone radiation
Introduction: The use of cell phones is widespread and there are public concerns regarding its possible deleterious effects on human health especially on the pregnancy outcomes. In this study, structural changes of the placenta after applying the cell phone radiation were examined in the mice model. Materials and methods: For this work, 40 pregnant Balb/C mice were randomly allocated to ...
